Our Work

CMAP’s mission is ensuring that limited-income residents have appropriate access to medication and health education, and encouraging preventative health practices in our service area.

The Rapides Foundation created CMAP in 2001 to improve Central Louisiana residents’ access to prescription medications. This was in response to the Foundation’s Community Health Assessments, which showed that among barriers to healthcare access, the cost of prescriptions impacted the greatest number of adults. CMAP has evolved to meet the needs of the community. Today, its medication access focus is offered statewide. In addition, CMAP administers many of the programs developed under The Rapides Foundation’s Healthy People priority area with funding from the Foundation, such as the Cancer Screening Project, the Healthy Lifestyle Program and Tobacco Cessation Counseling.
